Why it took so long to get Catan back from Activision
In a blog post, Catan co-creator Matt Kibbe revealed why the long-awaited game wasn’t coming back until next year, as the publisher’s financials are due in a couple of weeks.
The game’s publisher, Activision, also posted a video in which it showed off new cards from the game and how it would look with new expansions and new units.
While Kibb explained that the game had been “bought off from a third party developer,” the developer had already shipped the game to players.
Kibby went on to say that the final game will have the ability to take advantage of all the new expansions the game is able to provide.
In another post, Kibber also talked about how the developer’s own work on the game has been put to good use, and that it will be possible to get more of his game in a new format.
Kibbe also revealed that Catan’s developers had also worked on a new Catan-themed board game, which will be out sometime this year.
